My name is Shannon. I am one of Roadsigns' oldest employees, and how is that?
From the early days of Geoff's ownership and management of Roadsigns, he has had a small blonde boy lending a hand on weekends and school holidays. That was me.
As the company grew in size, concerning staff, plant and workload, so did I, including my participation in the company.
It wasn't too long before I'd finished high school, and decided to come on board, joining the full time crew.
After a few years, I decided it was time to go out on my own, and I was fortunate enough to secure an appreniceship with a south east carpentry company called Carpentry Solutions.
Under the instruction of brothers and busniess partners, Mark & Drew Paas, I completed my apprenticeship, and gained a broad and extensive skill base, covering all areas of the trade.
Along the way, of course, I was never too far away from Roadsigns either, working weekends on the Melbourne Market Contract, and keeping in touch with the staff.
Since then, I have worked for numerous builders, in Australia, New Zealand and short term in the UK, and have found the industry has been very good to me.
When Karen from the estimating office announced she was leaving Melbourne for the tropics, the opportunity came up for me to step back from the tools, and take on this new exciting chapter of my work-life, and to give back to the company that has given so much to me.
